Trial-run insurance coverage for Korean traditional medicine starts Feb. 13

Starting next Monday, on a trial basis, nationalhealth insurance will cover a type of traditional Korean chiropractic procedure.

called chunayobeob, commonly sought by people with joint and muscle conditions.

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare,chunayobeob will be covered at 65 Korean traditional medical centers across the country.

In choosing the facilities — a list of whichis available online — the ministry focused especially on public hospitals and those affiliatedwith universities.

In the chunayobeob procedure, a traditionalmedicine practitioner uses his or her hands, body and specialized devices to manipulatethe joints and muscles.
